Prospective Students

Welcome! The University of Chicago offers an education like no other - and students and their families are willing to work a little harder to be a part of it. That effort, however, should not have to include surmounting a difficult financial aid process.

To help guide you toward a financial aid package that meets your family’s needs, the Office of College Aid has information that will smooth the entire process. One exciting addition to the financial aid process is the Odyssey Scholarship.  This program allows the University to reduce the student loan expectation among students whose families demonstrate low to moderate income and high financial need.  In order to find out if you qualify for this new scholarship, you must apply for need based financial aid.   Use this site to get started, and we’ll guide you the rest of the way.

My staff and I look forward to working with you this year.

Director of College Aid

News and Announcements

On Wednesday May 7 2008, President George W. Bush signed legislation that increased the loan limits for undergraduate students. Effective for the 2008-09 school year, students now may borrow an additional $2,000 from the unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loan program. If you want to borrow additional unsubsidized funds based on the new loan limits, please print and complete a new 2008-09 Federal Stafford Loan Instruction and Amount Request Form, add this additional amount to the base amount, indicate the total amount on step two, and be sure to check the unsubsidized box on step three.

What People Are Saying

Hello! My name is Kimberley Marshall, proud mom of Jillian Marshall, newly admitted to UChicago! We just got back from our 1st visit to the campus. We wanted to thank you all for your generosity and help with Jillian's package. Certainly without it, she would not be able to attend! The contact I have had with your office has been so pleasant! Thank you again for all that you have done!
